EnVyUs have secured their place in the grand final at DreamHack Open Atlanta 2017 after beating Renegades 2-1 in the semi-finals (14-16 on Cache, 16-11 on Train, and 16-8 on Cobblestone).
Renegades and Envy sqaured off in a best-of-three series in the semi-finals at DreamHack Open Atlanta 2017. The first map was Cache which was picked by Renegades. Envy had a strong start on the T-side and won the first five rounds in the map while giving up only seven kills to Renegades.
Aaron "AZR" Ward stepped it up in the sixth round with a quad kill but Envy struck back two rounds later and went on to lead 9-2. The Australian team salvaged the half by getting four more rounds to trail 6-9 at halftime.
Cédric "RpK" Guipouy kicked off the second half with a triple kill in the pistol round (10-6). After a back-and-forth affair, Envy led 14-12 but failed to close out the game and Renegades took the last four rounds to complete the comeback.
Just like on Cache, Envy started their T-side with five consecutive round wins but Renegades salvaged the situation with two defuses and went on to lead 8-7 at halftime. Envy stepped up their game on the CT-side and won the map 16-11 to take the series to the third map.
The last map was Cobblestone where the CT-sided Envy won the pistol round with Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer's double kill. Renegades picked up the third round thanks to their early weapon purchase but they could only string two rounds together (2-2). Happy's dominant AWPing haunted the Australian team in the first half as Envy won it 11-4.
Envy lost the second half pistol round but the pistols reigned for the Frenchmen in the following round. Happy's team won the map 16-8 and moved onto the grand final where they will face Heroic.
